In the month of January, our theme in the transition classroom will "transportation," so we will be looking at and reading about planes, trains, cars, and all kinds of other modes of transportation. One of the books we will be looking at is Cars, Trucks, and Other Things that Go by Richard Scary, so take a look at it in advance if you'd like to see what we'll be working on at the center. In addition, we will be engaging in all kinds of winter activities, such as sledding, building snowmen, and making snow angels. In the process, our children will begin to learn how to dress for outside weather, as well as how to talk about winter clothes.
As always, if families have questions or wish to discuss the areas of study covered in class, please feel free to come talk to me.
In the transition classroom I will be continuing to work with the children on personal hygiene, in particular brushing teeth. If parents wish to involve their children in this, please send in a toothbrush and toothpaste with the children’s things.
Although, so far this year, the weather has not been very cold when we have gone outside, please remember to bring children’s winter outfits so that when we go explore the outdoors the children will be comfortable.
I would also like to take this opportunity to thank all the parents and families who attended and helped with our holiday parties this past year. They were tremendously fun, and the spirit of the holidays was certainly deeply felt at RH Babes in Toyland.
I love watching the children at play in the Transition room, as they often amaze me with the type of games and activities they can come up with on their own. One activity I've lately noticed is a little game where the children will voluntarily fall down as a group, bursting into laughter as they do so. Absolutely heartwarming.
