A few of this month's highlights include discussing family traditions and customs, cooking ethnic foods, and creating family posters and photo albums.
This month, we would also like to invite you and your family to visit us. This includes moms, dads, brothers, sisters, grandparents, and other relatives. We can get together for a tea party, a neighborhood walk, or an end of the summer picnic.
For our Show and Tell please encourage your child to bring something specific to their culture/their family culture to share with our class. Some ideas include a favorite storybook or toy, a traditional costume, or a rhyme or a song related to their heritage.
Our featured book of this week is going to be It's Okay to be Different, by Todd Parr. This book teaches children to be self confident and accept others. It also encourages early literacy, celebrates multicultural diversity, and promotes character growth, all of which are important goals to pursue in our group.
