Because of the children's interests, during the month of March we will be starting a unit on 'Cars, Trucks and Buses'. Through participation in the planned activities, the children will learn all about any number of means of transportation, ranging from specific names for various vehicles to everything else associated with them.
Some of the activities planned for this unit include: painting with cars, reading books about vehicles we see in the street, setting up a gas station in the dramatic play area, washing cars and trucks with sponges and soapy water for a fun sensory experience, and making car garages out of cardboard boxes.
In celebration St Patrick's Day we'll be making paper shamrocks and baking green cookies and muffins. Everyone is welcome to wear their favorite St Patrick's Day shirt or dress up whichever way they'd like.
The featured book of this month is going to be "Green Eggs and Ham" by Dr Seuss. The children will learn about rhyming words and funny looking foods that, though weird looking, are always worth a try.
Have a wonderful month of March!
