First of all, I want to welcome everyone to the toddler room. We will be working on a lot of projects that you will see throughout the toddler room.
Aside from these projects, we will also be working on a lot of gross motor skills, which include crawling, walking, running, jumping, and yoga. In learning these gross motor skills, your child will learn coordination, balance, and confidence, while also undergoing large and small muscle development.
Please remember that as the weather starts getting cooler your child will need extra clothes, such as a jacket or a sweatshirt. We’d like to keep one such item in each child’s cubby. As always, we will also need a full set of clothes for each child in case he/she gets a little dirty or has an accident throughout the day.
We will be working on a family picture board. For this, we will need pictures that can/should include your child’s dad, mom, siblings, pets or any other important people in your child’s life.
Please make sure you label the pictures with the names of the people in them, as well as your child’s name. If you don't have a picture with the whole family, separate pictures are completely okay.
Finally, please let me know if you need the original picture back. Thanks!
Reading with your children can be a great way for them to learn.
When you read with your child(ren) keep these guidelines in mind:
-get face to face
-give your child a chance to take turns
-change words in the book
-use the 4 S's (say less, stress, slow, and show)
-repeat, repeat, repeat,
And remember, there is more than one way to read a book with a toddler!
You don't have to start at the beginning, you can skip pages or not finish the book, you can just talk about the pictures, or you can even change words at will. This way, you can read the same story over and over again, even in one sitting.
