We will be introducing your child to our new HighScope curriculum. One of the fundamentals of the HighScope approach is that your child will be encouraged to be active in his/her learning, with the teacher supporting organic interactions.
Along with our introduction to HighScope, we will continue to use ZooPhonics.
Our overarching concept for the month of September will be to create a classroom community. We will learn to take turns, to share time, attention, and resources, to respectfully address our new classmates by their names, and to understand and follow classroom rules and routines.
September 5th: Preschool and Pre-K Curriculum Night
September 17th: Cookie Dough Fundraiser Kick-off
September 18th: Smile! Picture Day
This month we will be creating a classroom tree. For this project, I’ll ask the students for a picture of their family.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Hi! My name is Holly.
I have an Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood from OCC in May 2010, and am currently working on my Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services. I have 12 years of experience working in the early childhood field; previously, I worked for the OLHSA Headstart Program for 11 years. In addition, I have been trained in the HighScope program now being used at our education center.
I am a mother of two teenage boys, of whom one is autistic; my experience as a mother, has, I believe, made me into a better person and a better instructor.
