Happy January! I hope everyone enjoyed their holiday and is ready for the new year. One thing we will be working on this month is independent activities. We will be introducing numbers, shapes and colors into our lesson plan; doing more life skills such as brushing teeth and learning to wash our face; and of course our teachers will be there to help our little ones out.
Parents: Please send in a toothbrush and toothpaste. We will be introducing the children to basic oral hygiene! (Fun fact: Did you know it is important for infants to brush their gums too? It is recommended that infants’ gums are cleaned using a soft microfiber cloth until their first tooth comes in!)
Our themes this month will be:
January 1: Closed. Happy new year!
January 18: Martin Luther King, Jr. Day
Welcome to September! We would like to share with you some news and changes that will be taking place in September.
On Tuesday September 8, we will be moving the following children to the transition room: Maddie, Julia, Sam, and Clara. We know you all will have an amazing time in your new room! Ms. Melyssa will also be moving to the transition room and will be co-lead alongside Ms. Madison. She will take over the Program Director position in September as well, splitting her time between office work and the classroom.
Ms. Alysia will start student teaching a wonderful group of second graders here in Rochester Community Schools! Her last day at Babes in Toyland will be Friday August 28th. Although we are sad to see her leave, we are SO excited for the next step in her career and cannot wait to hear all about her new classroom.
We would like to welcome Ms. Saiyida to the Nursery/ Toddler classroom! Ms. Saiyida attends Schoolcraft College where she is working towards her degree in education. She comes from a family of teachers and will be a lovely asset to our classroom. We are so excited to have you join us!
The Nursery/ Toddler classroom would also like to welcome Lukas and his family to RH Babes in Toyland. We can’t wait to get to know you!
Our Picnic in the Park will be Friday September 4 at 6:30. This will take place at the Rochester Municipal Park. There will be plenty of food and fun for families so feel free to bring your friends! A signup sheet is located on the front desk for your convenience.
Babes in Toyland will be hosting an Open House/ Curriculum Night in September. Date TBD. This is a great chance to learn about the current changes happening, meet the new teachers, and learn more about the High Scope curriculum and ASQ assessment tool. Parents only, please! Light snacks and beverages will be available for your enjoyment.
Our fall picture day will be on September 24th at 8a.m. Please arrive between 8:00 and 9:00 so you don’t miss this exciting day. Our teachers are more than happy to do outfit changes and hairdos, if needed! We will be receiving the prints October 8th.
With many of our children moving up to the Trans room, the Nursery and Toddler rooms will now be combined as one entity. Half of the classroom will serve as a space dedicated to sleeping and eating, and the other half will be our learning space! We understand that these changes may seem scary, but we assure you that we will continue providing the best care possible and there is nothing to be worried about J
These are the things that we will be working on in September:
Henry- He will continue learning new skills through play including sharing and taking turns, cleaning up his toys, and give and take communication with his caregivers. He will also begin visiting the transition room every once in a while as he comes closer to age 2!
Lukas- He will learn about his new classroom and all of the new faces. He will start forming friendships with his peers and bonds with his caregivers.
Andrei- He will work on the 5 month milestones including more and more tummy time, sitting up with support, and lots of communication and babbling.
Raegan- She will continue on the toddler schedule and begin to learn new skills such as using a spoon and fork. She will be presented with many opportunities to discover right from wrong and make choices for herself.
Maverick- He will work on his 7 month milestones including sitting on his own, enjoying social time with others, and exploring toys and objects with both his hands and his mouth.
