Welcome to Spring!
What will we be working on this month? In language and literacy we will be working on rhyming words. Dr. Seuss should prove to be a useful resource! For motor skills, we will primarily be focusing on learning how to better grip and manipulate writing utensils. We will also be experimenting with mixing different types of play dough for use in our classroom. In math, we plan on learning how to better count with the use of units. And in music and movement, we will be expressing ourselves by trying to stick to music holding a steady beat. Core Themes Our themes this month will center on famous children’s books’ authors. Week 1: Don and Audrey Woods Week 2: Ezra Keats Week 3: Dr. Seuss Week 4: Eric Carle Throughout the month we will be using key developmental indicators to better enhance our kids’ development and growth through activities. Birthday fun (and other kinds of fun)! Three of our kids will be celebrating their birthdays this month. Happy birthday! A – March 4th F – March 15th J – March 27th Remember that we will be celebrating St. Patrick’s Day on March 17th. Don’t forget to put on your best green outfit! On March 23rd, please join us for our center-wide Easter Breakfast (from 6 till 9 a.m.). And don’t forget the center will be closed on Good Friday, March 25th. WOW! We can’t believe it’s already March. To celebrate, this month we will be doing a lot of projects related to spring and the outdoors. We will be watching as the weather gets wetter and warmer, and as this opens up a whole new world to all living creatures. Lots of exciting stuff coming up!
Our main focuses this month will be Dr. Seuss’s birthday, the weather, St. Patrick’s Day, Easter, and spring in general. We will also be focusing on the color green and the shape of the triangle. March Events March 13th – Daylight Savings Time March 17th – St. Patrick’s Day. Wear green! March 23rd – Family Easter breakfast March 24th – Easter egg hunt March 25th – Good Friday. Center closed. March 27th – Easter Sunday Reminders We will be having a center-wide family breakfast from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. on March 23rd. Join us for food and good conversation! On March 24th, the Nursery/Toddler room will be having an Easter egg hunt. Please don’t forget to bring in a basket and some plastic eggs! Goalposts We would like to welcome Felipe to our class! We are so excited to have you with us and can’t wait for you to become part of our family! AM will be working on using his upper arm muscles and will be doing various other gross motor activities to get ready to start crawling. The toddlers (RR, LK, IB, and FR) will continue to practice sitting at the big kids’ table, along with helping to clear the table like the big kids they are becoming. |
